Vellore is 145 km from chennai. It was the last capital of vijayanagar empire, now a busy town, a market for various commodities and the district headquarters. There are some rare places of tourist importance in and around vellore. The climate is generally hot with cool nights- a typical example  of inland climate where there is considerable difference between high and low temperatures. ‘ A temple without idol, A river without water and A fort with out forces’ is a local saying about this town.
