Karur is one of the oldest towns in tamilnadu and has played a significant role in the glorious history and culture of the tamils. It was called karuvoor or vanji during sangam days. karur is bounded by namakkal district in the north, Dindugal district in the south, Tiruchirapalli district on the west and Erode district on the east.The city is famous for its cottage industries and the handloom textiles. one cement factory is also located here.
